THE IMPERIAL CABINET

NEW ZEALAND TO BE REPRE-

SENTS®,

A few days ago tho member for Clutha (Air A. S. Alalcolm) asked of Mr Massey in the House of Representatives: (1) Whether it is proposed to hold a sitting of tho imperial Conference or Imperial War Cabinet this year or early next year and, if so, what are the Government’s intentions in the matter? (2) Is the Govern rent satisfied that loading Ministers of the House cannot afford to absnt themselves to attend such meetings and, if so, will their make other arrangements for New Zealand’s representation at the above Imperial meetings? The reply given hy Mr Massey yesterday was as follows: —(1) No direct communication on the subject has so far been received by the New Zealand Government, but the Imperial Government, through the Prime Alinister of Britain, indicated to the House of Commons that an Imperial Cabinet would meet annually in London. As the first meeting erf a Cabinet, representative of tho United Kingdom, the Dominions, and India, was held in April of this year, it may he assumed that the next meeting will be held about tho corresponding date in 1918. (2) If the Imperial Cabinet is convened as indicated, arrangements will be made for New Zealand to be represented.
