Riddell, S.M., dealt with tho following police and civil oases at tho Magistrate’s Court yesterday: Emily" Foster, a young woman, for committing a breach of her prolubition order, fined 40s, iu default seven days’ imprisonment. On a charge of * drunkenness she was convicted and discharged. Thomas Clarke, a soldier, pleaded guilty to insobriety, and to committinc an indecent act in Grey street. On” the first count a conviction only was entered, and on the second he was fined £3, and given the alternative of going to gaol for fourteen days. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiffs in tho following undefended civil cases by default:—G. W. Kemptou v. R. Clifton, £5 6s 6d, costs £1 3s 6d; R. A. Swain v. Lewis, Murphy, and Farmer, £4 6s, costs 10s; Ivoir’s Forwarding Agency, Ltd., v. Murphy, »nn Farmer, £9 13s -Id, costs £1 3s 6d; Commercial Agency, Ltd., v. Mrs Ada Penkcth, £l9 Is 2d, costs £1 15s 6d; same v. H. Lewis, £l4 14& lid, costs £1 10s 6d; ‘William Murphy v. S. Johns, £4, ‘ costs 15s; A. J. Park and Son. v. Dominion Hardware Company, Ltd., £lB 14s 7d, costs £1 10s 6d; Stevenson and Ferguson v. Wellington Structural Engineering Company, Ltd., £l4 12s 3d, costs £1 10s 6d.
