LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
DISCHARGED SOLDIERS’ SETTLEMENT BILL.
The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m., the Acting-Speaker (the Hon. W. C. F. Carncrossj in the chair. The Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Amendment Bill was considered in its committee stetge. Tno Hon. J. T. Paul stated that Sir Francis 801 l ip his reply to the debate on the second reading of the bill the previous day hnd made an attack on him tor his criticism of the bill and the Qovtmment’k land policy. ' Hr Paul resented this attack, as his criticism had been fair and helpful criticism. His remarks had been made merely in a sincere desire to help returned soldiers on to the land. Sir Frnncia Bell said ho had nothing to withdraw from the statements he bad made the previous day. He had made no attack on Hr Paul, but merely roplied to his criticism. The bill wm put through its final stages and parsed. At 3.5 p.m. the Council adjourned till ,1.30 p.m. to-day*
