SOME SEAPvCHING QUESTIONS ASKED
In tho House of Representatives yesterday afternoon Air J. Vigor Brown, M.P. for Napier, gave notice of bus intention to- ask the Government the following questions with regard to the valuation and disposal of New Zealand wool:
(1) Ih it a fact that a quantity of wool bought by a supposed Gorman firm is still in New Zealand, and not yet taken by tho Now Zealand Government?
(•zj Is it a fact that some of the Government wool valuers are tho same men who bought for German. Jirms and are now drawing tho large salaries mentioned ?
(3) Is it a fact that in addition to the very large salaries paid tho valuers they are claiming a commission on their purchases? (4) Is it a fact that 25 men draw £50,000 per annum, with motor hire, special trains, and clerical work in addition ?
(5) la it a fact that a number of those so-oallcd specialists are shirking their duty? (6) Is it a fact that one firm has five of its staff on as valuers and inspectors and at the same time fellmongoring and scouring wool on account of the Government? (7) Is it a fact that the Australian Government did not interfere with the purchase of sheepskins and oddments of wool, but had taken all the wool when prepared hy fcTlmongors and left them a freo market, not closing up tho business of men in tho trade, as has been done in New Zealand?
