CIVIL SERVANTS’ BONUS
RUMOURS ABOUT PAYMENT. NOTHING IN -RUMOURS THAT IT WILL NOT BE PAID. There have been persistent rumours in the various departments of the Public Service that the Government has decided not to pay to oivil servants a war bonus this year. The rumour has gained currency following on the different financial position of the country as rovealod in th© Houso of Representatives last week. Last night a “New Zealand Times” reporter asked the Finance Minister (Sir Joseph Ward.) as to whether there is any truth in the rumour. Sir Joseph Ward said there was nothing in the rumour. The proposals os to the civil servants’ bonus would come before Parliament shortly.
