BOWLING
JOHNSONVILLB CIrtJB. Favoured with perfect bowling weather the Johnsonvill© Club opened its green on Saturday last, when there was a large attendance of members and their lady, friends, add a visiting team from the Khandallah Club. The president, Mr Robert Turner, extended a hearty welcome to all and hoped that the season, would bo a successful one in every respect. Since last season the club had lost the services of one of their most prominent members in the person of Air Norman Cook, who has responded to the call of duty and was at present at the front, so that the club had now five members on active service. He hoped that before long there would be a successful termination to the war, and thatthey would take their place on the green next season, and that those who had" sons and relatives at the war would soon have them home safe and sound. The thanks of the club were due to thoseladies who kindly dispensed afternoon tea during last season, and also to Mr Bramley, the caretaker, for the excellent condition of the green. He called on Miss Noel Turner to throw the first jack, after which he declared the green open for play. A number of enjoyable games were played during the afternoon. LYALL BAY.
