INEXECRABLE HUN
SNIPES STRETCHER-BEARERS HEROIC ACT OF BRITISH OFFICER. y Telegraph—Prcas Association—Copyrijiu Published in “The Times.” (Received October 10, 5.40 p.m.) LONDON, October 14. Mr H. Pirnc itobinson, "fhe T.mos’s” correspondent, in again confirming the recent German viola tion of tho Red Cross, says some ot tho units’ proportion of casualties amongst tho stretcher-bearers exceed those of the infantry, being tho result of deliberate sniping. Two days ago three out of four members of a stretcher party were sniped at close range wid shot dead. A British officer in a shell-hole near by, seeing the shooting, seized a fled Cross flag, and, waving it conspicuousby, marched straight to tho snipers’ /tiding place and halted a few yards from tho German position. Tho Gormans, presumably curious, withhold fire. Speaking in German, tho officer poured out lr.a indignation, pointing out that a German stretcher was moving unmolested. Tho Germans listened in silence. The British officer, having finished, turned back, tossed away the flag, and floundered back to his shell-hole.
