NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE
NEGOTIATIONS STILL IN HAND, STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER. In the House of Representatives last night Mr H. J. H. Okey (Taranaki) drew the attention of Mr Massey to the difficulty a number of the dairy factories were in by having to, hold their produce, for the Imperial authorities, who wore delaying in accepting same. This uncertainty made it impossible for a number of the factories to make financial arrangements to meet their payments for milk delivered on tho 20th of the month. In these peculiar circumstances and to enable the different factories to meet their payments would Mr Massey instruct the different banks doing business in. tho Dominion to the effect that the Government would bo responsible for any payment made on this season’s milk and depositing with the hank store warrants for the butter or cheese in stock. Mr Massey replied that the position was very much easier now than it was last week. He was daily in communication with tho Imperial Government. Arrangements were well in hand and the only question now was one of price. He bad no doubt but that satisfactory arrangements would bo made between the Now Zealand Government, the producers and tho Imperial Government within a week or two. He was quite Sure it would be all right.
