Tlie opening of the Eastbourne green took place on Saturday in the most auspicious circumstances. The president of the club, ‘Mr H. Shortt, in declaring the green open, extended a hparty welcome to the visitors, who included 1* I r Chas. Hill, senr., the father of the game in Wellington, who motored around with the To Miwi representatives. The following skips brought full .rinks to represent their respective clubs; Ishrwood (Aictona), Eva 1] (Khandallah), Dryden (Karori), Kinvig (Wellington), McColl (Kel-hi,T-ni'’ Burges' tLyajl Bay); Fergusson (Te Hiwi)." The opposing skips from Eastbourne comprised: H. .Mayer, ri.'sn'.son, Munro, T. Mayer, Leslie, Hanks, Stephens. Members and visitors with their wives wore the guests of the president and Mrs Shortt at afternoon tea, and the Eastbourne orchestra, under Mr Cummins, enlivened the proceedings with several choice selections.
