ADULTERATED MILK
VENDOR'S FINED. Proceedings -were taken at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., by F. W- Ranvlinson (inspector under the Pure Food and Drugs Act), against the George Nash Milk Distributing Company for selling adulterated milk. Mr P. S. K. Macassey, who appeared for the Crown, stated that Inspector llawlinson took a sample of milk from the ‘defendant company. It was found upon analysis that the milk was deficient in fats. The sample had 2.80 per cent, of butter fat, and the standard was 3.25 per cent. Counsel added that a number of samples of milk were taken from other renders during the same month and the average of butter fat, upon analysis, was found to be 4,25 per cent. Mr P. W. Jackson, who appeared for the defendant company, entered a plea cf guilty. A fine of £lO with costs was imposed.
