Air Ilsrn, a Gorman lawyer, informed the police that ho had learned that bombs were placed aboard the Lusitania and timed to explode near the Irish coast; but the vessel was torpedoed before the bombs exploded. Mr Ilsch says no was in tho oQico of Schimme,, a German lawyer now in Germany, when tho Lusitania was torpedoed, Behinvrncl shouted: “Tho fool ruined my wort ; tho bombs would have destroyed her.” Tho officials are trying to establish whether Count von liornstorfr knew of the bombs being placed on the ship when- ho published his warning to passengers not to travel in tho Lusitania. Tho Cunard liner Lusitania was torSedoed by a German submarine off the •Id Head of Kinsalo. Nearly 1500 lives were lost, including over 100 A&cricans, among whom were A. G. Vanderbilt, C.
