HOROWHENUA NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, October U. All the seaside residences have been taken for the holiday season. There is at present a shortage or kerosene in this district, and residents are suffering a deal of inconvenience. Residents of Foxtou are agitating for a better train sfcrvice, being especially anxious for the afternoon train to run, so that connection may be obtained at Palmerston with the Main i'runk express. , , ... Tho opening of the bowling season in Otaki took place on Wednesday afternoon. The attendance was large and representative, bowiers being present from Wellington, Feilomg, ana Levin. The president (Mr H. H, 01livcr) extended a hearty welcome to all and hoped players would have a pleasant time. He introduced the patron (Dr Huthwaite), who apologised for tho absence of representatives ot other clubs. He also referred to a letter received from the Centre president which wished the club all success The green was then declared open, and Mrs Hnthwait© threw tho “jack” in good style.
