THE BAD BILL

(To the Editor, “N.Z. Times.”) Sir, —Well, the War Regulations have spoiled my best letter, hut i thank you, sir, for exercising your matured judgment, thus saving me from forcibly accepting the Government’s hospitality for a prolonged period. I was pleased, however, to see that the Women of Wellington are not letting the matter drop, as witness the letter in yesterday morning’s issue of your paper and the letters of “'Another Mother” and “Soldier’s Sister,” which appeared some days ago. We have had a big meeting. We must make a great effort to have the obnoxious Hygiene Bill withdrawn. To achieve this end wo must emulate the six o’clock closers and launch monster petitions throughout the length and breadth of the land. Nothing scares the average politician like a well-signed petition. He feels as if Nemesis is on his track, and.bo hastens to: make peace with his gods—the votes. - But time is short, and the scs.sion is fleeting. If the people do not act quickly they will have missed their opportunity and our parasitic legislators will cling for at least another year to their coveted jobs. To every Protesting unit in the country I would say, “Got busy with your petition lists this "very day.”—l am, etc., MOTHER. Wellington, October 10th.
