A typical instance of tyranny is re* ported in a recent issue of the “Munich Post,” which vouches for the truth oi its story: A few days ago a discharged .soldier, who had lost a leg in the fighting, was violently abused by a captain whom he met in the street m Munich, because, owing to his disability, he was unable to give the salute in regulation manner, as he was walking with crutches, and was, moreover, suffering from severe internal injuries. By way of revenge for this “insolence,” the captain at once reported the affair to headquarters, with tbo result that the man was telegraphically summoned back to his regiment to undergo disciplinary punishment for failing to show due respect to hi.s late captain. Thus the gallant soldier, who. had been at the front for eighteen months, and fought in the battles of Arras, Verdun, and the Somme, losing his leg in the defence of his Fatherland, was beatei and disgraced before his fellow-sol-diers because of his physical inability to carry out a trifling detail of military etiquette, while, through his sudden recall to the colours, he was also deprived cf the civil employment which he, had secured only tao days previous'y.
