MYSTERIOUS AIRSHIP

HOVERS OVER MARINE BARRACKS. BRITAIN’S LACK OF AIR-CRAFT. LONDON, February 25. Police and others at Portsmouth state, that an airship with a powerful light hovered high above the Marine Barracks, and then returned north. The body of the craft was not distinguishable in the darkness. A member of the Royal Flying Corps points out that Britain has an aeroplane nor a dirigible to cope with the Zeppelins, while her antiaircraft armaments consist of a few experimental quickfirers, in the handling of which no one has yet been trained. Suitable shells, ho adds, have not been provided. A coastguard has notified the Admiralty that a mysterious airship passed Hornsea, on the Yorkshire coast, tonight. WAS IT A PLANET? (Received February 26, 9.45 p.m.) LONDON, February 26. Crowds at Hull watched the Hornsea airship for an hour. It disappeared in a westerly direction. Other observers declare it was a planet. “JOHN BULL’S POWERS OF SEEING VISIONS.” I ' February 26, 9.45 p.m.) BERLIN, February 26. The Gorman papers continue to make fun of John Bull’s long-suspect-ed powers of seeing visions, and point out that all the Zeppelins that are conceivably able to accomplish the task are few and were acconnted for at the various stations.

They are further of opinion that if the Zeppelins contemplated an illicit visit they would hardly display bright lights.
