A social -was held la the Hutt Bowling C'lubpeviiiou, Loiter Hutt, lust night. A large number of bowlers were present, including representatives from the Wellington Club, while apologies .Vote received from Mr *l'. Al. Wilfcml, M.P-.j and members of other bowling chibs. During the everting Alt I). McKenzie, an Old tnember of the club, ■who is leaving the district for Otago, was presented with a smoker’s companion by his fellow club members. Afr Hullard (president), la making the presentation, eulogised the excellent Qualities of the recipient both as a bowler and a citizen. Cards, ninslb and Song helped to Che enjoyment of the evening, the following contributing items - ; Misses Hid, Atessfa K. J-. Hill, C. Trevethick, Camming, and Kish worth. Orto cause of matrimonial failures is that the average girt looks forward to marriage as a vacation instead of as a -vocation*
