CRICKET

WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met last evening. Present —Messrs M. Luokie (chairman), Crombie, Willis, Bay, Hood, Midlane, Fanning and Vance, secretary. The Canterbury Cricket Association wrote stating that they had accepted Otago's challenge for the Plnnket Shield, to be played at Easter, as this challenge was received prior to tho Wellington challenge. A further reason that guided the committee in coming to this decision was that the Otago Association had given a guarantee that the proposed match at Easter would not imperil the proposed scheme of interprovincial matches as agreed upon at the conference held in Wellington in July last. Tho letter was received. It was decided to write to the Otago Association with a view to inaugurating annual matches next year, when Wellington hoped to visit Dnuedin. The Nelson Association telegraphed offering tho Wellington Association a match at Nelson at Easter. Tho matter was referred to a committee consisting of Messrs Wilson, Orombie and Midlana to see if they could get a team together to visit Nelson. It was decided to inform the Hawke a Bay Association that it was impossible to get together a team to play them on March 17th and 18th. . A sub-committee consisting of Messrs Vance, Fanning and Wilson was appointed to arrange regarding _a cricket match in' connection with the citizens carnival. The senior fixtures for the next round were drawn as follows: South v. East A, Basin Reserve No 1. East B v. North, Basin Reserve No. 2. Victoria College v. Petone, at Petone. Central v. Hutt, at Hntt. Junior Competition. Wellington College v, V .M.C.A., at College ground. Hntt v. St. Mark’s, at Hntt. Central v. North, Basin Reserve No. 8. Victoria College, a bye.
