The Hons. W. F. Massey, W. H. Herries, A. L. Herdman, B. H. Bhodes, and Dr. Pomare are in Wellington. The Hon. W. H. Herries leaves for the Bast Coast district and Auckland tomorrow. The Hon. W. Fraser, now in Otago, arrives back in Wellington next Sunday. The Hon. F. M. B. Fisher is at Auckland, where he will probably remain for some days. Several new awards and transfers of scholarships have been made since the January meeting of the 'Wellington Education Board. “B” rural scholarships have been awarded to Oliver Dudson, Carterton District High School, and Marjorie Thomas, Pahiatua District High School. Irene N. Hughes relinquishes her junior scholarship. Hard Bockel, senior “B” scholarship, is permitted to hold it at the New Plymouth District High School, Agnes M. Monorieff, junior National scholarship, has .been granted a transfer from Carterton to Wellington Girls’ College. The department declined to agree to the transfer of W. Terry’s senior “A” scholarship to Canterbury College. It is stated that there is every prospect of Mr J. W. McE'i'-an having a walk-over for the Mayoralty of Petone, but that the council seats will be closely contested. Two waitresses at a oofa in Munich, Bavaria, quarrelled over the ownership of a tip of 10s. All attempts at settling the dispute having failed, they procured revolvers, and fought a duel, which ended in one of the girls being killed.
