MASTERTON, February 25, During the year ending December 31st last sixteen coses of drunkenness, four of disorderly conduct, three d theft, two of vagrancy, and five •breaches of the Licensing Act were dealt with at the Martinborough B.M. Court. The total number of offence* was sixty-six, against forty-three last year. Last year fourteen cases of infectious diseases occurred in South Wairarapa. There aro at present twenty-six patients in the Greytown Hospital and the Buchanan Home. The outlet of Omoko (or Lower Wairarapa) Lake has been closed for over a week, and owing to the heavy rain which has fallen during the past few days, a largo area of laud has been flooded. Mr James McCarty, of Featherston, who had recently visited Wellington in connection with treatment to one of his eyes, has been compelled to again seek medical aid. At Wellington this week Mr McCarty underwent an operation, and had the injured cyw removed.
