CITY RESERVES

A RESCINDING MOTION. Notice has been given by Councillor Frost, as chairman of the reserves committee, to move at 'a, special meeting of the City Council to be held on March 6th that so much of the resolution passed on April 18th, 1912, be rescinded: “That with a view of making a start with a comprehensive scheme to beautify the town belt, the city engineer, acting under instructions from the reserves committee, has submitted a plan to include the block of ten acres lying to the west of Wellington ' terrace known as section 48, town belt. The committee have approved the plan and recommend the immediate adoption of same so as to give the department an opportunity ol making a start with the work during the coming season. The estimated cost of the work, including fencing, planting, etc., is £BO9. The land has already been cleared of gorse, and the implanted portions, after fences are r.rectod, can be let for grazing purposes ill small blocks as will admit ol m area of said section 48 (to be selected) being leased to the lielburn. Bowling Club for the purp.se of forming a bowling green and croquet lawn.”
