The funeral ol tbo late William (Slacken, who died at ■ Mautere on Tuesday afternoon, took place yesterday, when the remains were interred in the Roman (Jatboiic cemetery. There was h. largo concourse of relatives and friends, and the ceremonies, both at the cburcii and graveside, were impressive, the Rev. bather Aielu officiating. Several Moral tributes were placed on the coffin. Mrs H. R. Milder, who has been on a visit to Mount Cook, has returned to Waikanae, accompanied by her two sons. The,Rev. and Mrs Jaines Wrigley, who had charge of the Methodist circuit here some time ago, paid a return visit. During tbeir stay they were the guests of Air and Airs C, H. Williams, of Rangiuru. Yesterday the sanatorium bowlers were defeated by members of the local club by the narrow margin of two points: 18—16. The visitors’ quartette comprised Bassett, Dennistbn, Duske, and O’Connor, while the winners comprised A. Ferguson, Bills, Cook, and Allen, The Weraroa Training Farm was among the exhibitors at the Dannevirke show, and secured four first prizes in the pig classes, viz., best boar, Berkshire sow over six months, Berkshire sow under six months, and Yorkshire sow over six months.
