The New Plymouth dredge Paritutu, which has been on a visit to Wellington, will leave here today for New Plymouth. The Karamu left Westport at 8 o’clock last night for Napier. The Katoa sailed from Westport at 10 o’clock last night for Auckland, , The Mapourika arrived at Westport at 8 am- yesterday from Greymouth; and sailed at 7 pm. for Nelson and Wellington. She is due here about 4,30 o’clock this afternoon. The Waipori is to leave Wellington tonight for Lyttelton with remainder of ooal from Westport. The Koonya is to leave Wellington today for Greymouth to load for Wellington, and is duo back here about next Wednesday, The Koromiko will return to Wellington this afternoon from Miramar to complete discharge. She is to sail bn Monday probably for Westport." The Union Company’s collier Kamona is to he dispatched from* Wellington this afternoon for Westport. .. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Kaikoura is expected at Wellington, abbut March 3rd to complete Homeward loading. She will sail from Wellington for London about March 6th. Word was received yesterday that the auxiliary scow Echo will sail from Havelock on Monday for Gisborne. The Government steamer Hinemoa is to leave Auckland this morning -for northern lighthouses. She will probably arrive back at Wellington on March 10th. Mr D. McAlpino joined the Arahura as third engineer yesterday. , Mr H. J. RoumanoS signed on the articles of the. dredge Paritutu yesterday as second mate for the run to New Plymouth; There was a general shortage of labour on the wharves yesterday owing to the large amount of cargo being landed from ’ Home liners. A few years ago three or four thousand tons of cargo was the average amount discharged’ at Wellington by a Homo boat, nowadays five or six thousand tons frequently constitutes the Wellington cargb. The Waihora was to have left _ Newcastle yesterday for Java. She will return subsequently to Newcastle to load for New Zealand. The Kaitoa- duo at Wellington to-day from New Plymouth, will sail for West Haven, and will probably arrive back at Wellington on Tuesday. Ha trick and Co. expect the coastal steamer Tainui to arrive at Wellington probably on Tuesday from Waitara, The Maoriland Company’s steamer Ennerdale arrived at Geelong on Thursday night from Hnon (Tasmania), The vessel will return to Hnon to load for Lyttelton. AOEANGI ARRIVES THURSDAY. A wireless message received from _ the Aorangi, en route from San Francisco, states that the vessel will arrive at Wellington next Thursday. The Aorangi left gftn Francisco on the sth instant. STAR OP ENGLAND. The Tyscr liner Star of England arrived at Wellington yesterday afternoon from Port Chalmers and berthed at the King’s wharf to complete loading. She is to leave here on Wednesday at daybreak for London. , INDRALEMA COMING. Tho Tyner liner Indralema, en route from London, left Sydney on Thursday for Auckland, Napier, and Wellington. She is duo here about March 7th. NOBBY’S LIGHT. Tho secretary of the Department of Navigation, New South Wales, gives notice that it is proposed to change the fixed light at Nobby’s lighthouse, Newcastle (latitude S. 33 deg. 55xnia., longi-
tude E. 151dcg. 49min.), to an occulting light. A further notice will be issued at least two weeks before the change is made, giving particulars of the proposed alteration in the characteristics of the Hght. KTJROW FROM NEWCASTLE. Tho Union Company's collier Knrow arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from Newcastle and berthed at the Railway wharf. She left Newcastle at 8250 p.m. on Saturday, and had light variable winds and smooth seas till arrival. The Kurow will discharge about 2600 tons of coal and 105 tons of hardwood piles at Wellington, and will afterwards go to Pioton to put out 900 tone of coal. THE STAR OF IRELAND. Bannatyno and Co. advise that the Tyser liner Star of Ireland (from New fork), now discharging at Auckland, os expected to arrive at Wellington next Wednesday. WESTMEATH’S NEW PROGRAMME. The loading movements of the FederalShire liner Westmeath have been altered owing to detention, at Lyttelton. Ihe vessel is now discharging at Dunedin, and wUI sail on Monday for Wanganui roadstead and Wellington. She is due here about next Friday, and will sail on March 4th for Waitara, Timaru and Lyttelton. Prom the last-men toned port the vessel is to sail on March 14th tor West of England ports. THE CLAN GRANT. The Scales liner Clan Grant left Timaru yesterday morning for Lyttelton, where she arrived last night. The vessel next visits Pioton, Wellington, and Auckland. She will sail from Auckland for London. BUTESHIRE'S PROGRAMME. To load under the auspices of the New Zealand Skipping Company, the Buteshire, now. at Port Chalmers, pi'oceeds next to Auckland, Tokomaru ley, Napier, and is due at Wellington about March 12th. She will sail from Wellington for London about March 15th. WATM I ATE’S PROGRAMME. The New. Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Waimate is due at Wellington from Oamaru next Saturday for Homeward loading. _ She will afterwards proceed to Waitara, Wanganui, Picton, and back to Wellington. The vessel will-leave hero for London about March 14th. OPART FOE LONDON. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Orari is duo at Wellington on Tuesday from Napier to complete Homeward loading. She will sail from here next Thursday for London. MATATUA’S MOVEMENTS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Matatua is to leave Wellington to-mor-row morning for Timaru with remainder of cargo from London.
