AUCKLAND EXHIBITION
QUESTION OF CHRISTCHURCH ’ EXHIBITING. . Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, February 21. A meeting was held this afternoon to consider the question of Christchurch exhibiting at Auckland Exhibition. The Mayor presided.' It was decided to adjourn in order to enable the secretary to obtain information from Ashburton and Timaru as to the steps being taken in those centres. The secretary was instructed to communicate with the Department of Agriculture on the subject of obtaining exhibits of grain from farmers. SECRETARY’S SUCCESSFUL TOUR. AUCKLAND, February 21. The tour of the Exhibition secretary in the’South was very successful, and Mr Holmes is quite satisfied that the Exhibition will be a great success. With regard to freights, exhibitors will have to pay only one way for exhibits coming by water, while Mr Holmes has received a letter from the general manager of railways confirming a previous announcement that, subject to certain conditions, exhibits will be carried free on the Government railways.
