“MAN OVERBOARD!”
A FIREMAN’S DANGEROUS LEAP. Some excitement was caused shortly before 4 o’clock ' yesterday, afternoon, when the Corinthic was leaving port for London, by a fireman jumping overboard in ttestream. Ho was picked up and taken on board again. The Corinthic was off the man-of-war bnoy when the incident took place. Pilot Dawson had started tho big liner well on her way, and the Harbour Board pilot launch Uta was heading for tho wharf when a cry “man overboard” was raised. It appears that tte man, who bad been placed on board byrtte police, had been locked up until the vessel was well clear of the wharf. He then was allowed to go up on deck, and immediately jumped overboard on tte port side. The Corinthio’a engine® were quickly stopped. The Ufa went round and picked the fireman up, after he had a narrow escape from being drawn in to the propellers. He was held securely and then taken up on board the Corinthic, which proceeded on her voyage.
