HUNTLY MINERS
1 A LIVELY MEETING. VOTE OF CONFIDENCE CARRIED AGAINST UNION. Press Association, AUCKLAND, February, 20. There is apparently still friction at Huntly between the federationirta and arbitrationista. , Last evening a meeting of tte Hnntiy Coal Miners ’Onion was held and tte proceedings were very lively. , Eventually the chairman declared tte meeting closed and, with the secretary and others, left the meeting. Those who remained decided to have a meeting on their own account, and a vote of no-confidence was carried against the executive of the union and a new executive was appointed. The attitude of the company was again discussed, and matters took on a rather ominous note. . . The result of tte meeting is considered to be a victory for the federationists. . ... It is understood that last night a notice of motion towindup the new union was to have been brought forward, but the secretary of tte union,, when seen on the matter, stated that his executive had taken legal advice on tte matter, and their solicitors advise that such cannot bo done until the union cancels its registration under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and in the event of this happening the union will render itself Gable to the penalties provided for in its agreement with the company. As a result of lastnight’s meeting it is understood that tho executive of the Huntly Coal Miners’ Union have laid an action for trespass against a non-mem-ber of the union who took a loading j>art in last nightls=distarrb*nce.
