From Our Own Correspondent. MASTEBTOK. February 20. Miss Dorothy Booth, of Carterton, has left on a month's holiday to Rotorua and, Auckland. The engagement is announced of Miss May Filmer, daughter of Hr A. G. Pilmer, of Masterton. to Mr H. H. Pavitt, of Masterton. The following donations have been made to the Pahiatna-Akitio Agricultural and Pastoral Association during the past week: Messrs Verry Bros. £2 2s, A. Barrel! £2, J, Breeds hi Bs, IV. Brown 13s. In a bowling match Pahiatna defeated Whakatane by 31 points to 16. The third competition for the Bush Districts Cup was fired at Manriceville on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for Tararua with 705 points. Maurioeyille was second with 696 points, and Alfredton third with KH. In the three competitions ‘Manriceville has scored an aggregate of 2073 points, and holds the cup for the season. Alfredton scored 2066 points, and Tarama 2052 points. The small grazing rone at Ihura.ua are to be sub-divided into nine selections, and will bo offered to the public in May next. At the Masterton show tbe Romney Harsh sheep-judging competition was won by Mr F. Hiller (Bidcford), Mr W, G, Groves (Tinui) being second. The work of erecting a party telephone line between Konini and Pahiatna baa been completed. There are six subscribers to this service. Messrs Tosswill and Cameron are having a private line erected at Hakuri. The swimming events at the Pahiatna swimming sports will be judged by Messrs G. A. Burgess aud J. D. Wilson, and the diving by Mr W. J. Smith, of Hamua. Mr W. Wakeman, of Pahiatna, has loft on a visit to Taihape. Messrs A. C. Herbert (chairman), C. W. Cooke, B. Yiteky, A. H. Eidd. 'W. Kayser, and E. W. Morris (secretary) have been appointed a board to control the Pongaroa Domain. Mr S. Maretusi. of Eketahuna. will be a competitor at tbe Trentham rifle meeting next week. Mr A. Hoar, of Masterton. will leave next month on a visit to England. The takings at the Masterton show amounted to .£436 10s, as compared with £396 12s last year.
