BATTLE PRACTICE

TERRITORIALS AT WORK. The Territorials at present in camp were occupied throughout yesterday in carrying out battle practice, designed to represent under peace conditions as nearly as possible what would take place in war. A target representing a hostile vessel, was brought in from the straits. Outside she engaged Fort Dorset, and, coming up the harbour, encountered the quick-firers of Port Ballanoe. At Petone the target received the attention of Fort Kelbume. From Somes Island it was taken to Lowry Bay, coming again under the Port Ballance guns. Everything went off well, and the work was quite satisfactory from a military point of view. Tho practice will be repeated on Friday, in the presence of General Godley.
