P. & T. PICNIC AND SPORTS
The annual picnic of the Post and Telegraph Department was held yesterday ut Day’s Bay in delightful weather. There were about 350 persons present, and the outing was most enjoyable. The chief interest was centred in the tennis and sports competitions, the results of which were as follow: TENNIS. Combined doubles, won by S. Jones and Miss Mack; gents’ doubles, won by Duffy and Andrews; ladies’ doubles, _won by Misses I. Clark and Asquith. SPORTS. 100yds Handicap—C. Cates 1, C. W. Eobineon 2; 220yds Handicap—C. W. Robinson 1, C. Cates 2; Half Milo Handicap—C. Pugh 1, P. Doyle 2; Relay Race, half mile— Secretary’s Division 1, Carriers 2, Telegraph 3; Ladies’ Eaoe—Miss Hardwicke; Thread-Needle Race—Miss (Jodsell and W. Gilbert; Three-legged Race—C. Rivers and J. Murphy; Hop-Step-and-Jump—C. Rivers (41ft 9m) 1, P. Dovje2; Girls’ Raoe-L. Brmdle; Boys Race—F. Brindle; Sack Race—J. 1. Willson 1. Parker 2; Swimming, 50yds Handicap—Greener 1, Little 2,_Geddes 3; 100yds Handicap-Greener 1, Little 2. Gcddes 3, Diving Competition—H. Little 1, Cates 2.
