Three hundred and fifty free labourers at Grimsby are receiving fortypence per hour. The strikers persuaded many to leave after drawing 27s for a day’s work. Ten thousand London bakers are demanding a fifty-four hours’ week, with 30s per week m shops and 32s in factories. The masters will concede the demand if each man bakes ten sacks weekly. The men reply that this is impossible.
