INSURANCE FOR CLERGY
Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 18. The Anglican diocesan clergy have had placed before them o very benevolent scheme of insurance against accident. In response to a request from several clergy, the Auckland members of the Pensions Board have arranged to cover all European clergy of the diocese against accident resulting in incapacity from duty. On payment of a single premium or entrance fee of £2 IQs each clergyman will bo insured by the board for the whole term of liia, service in the diocese. The clergyman makes no further payments, tho Auckland Board meeting the annual premium.: for them out of the moneys at its disposal. The scheme provides for the payment of £2 per week for the time of the sufferer’s incapacity, the period of payment, however, being limited»to fifty-two weeks at most. Cases of death or permanent or partial disablement by accident may he considered, by the board, and such aid granted as each case appears to warrant. Tho application of the scheme is limited to' clergy holding a chaig.o or curacy within tho diocese, and a member ceases to have any claim whon Jie is n° longer in active employment with ’the diocese. In a letter tc too clergy. Bishop Crossley says: “I cordially commend this generous and most beneficial proposal to my clergy and urge them to put themselves under its advantages without delay,” The Bishop is chairman of the board.
