TRAGEDY AT A CARNIVAL
CHILDREN’S CAR IN FLAMES. LONDON, February 8. During the progress of a carnival at Tarassa, in Spain, a masked individual started firing confetti from a pistol, persisting in this pastime until he set fire to one of the cars in a procession. The twenty boys and girls who were in the car made frantic efforts to extinguish the flames, and in doing so the false beards they were wearing .became ignited. Then the light and fumsy costumes in which they were garbed caught fire, and within a few seconds all the occupants of the car were in flames. The children were dragged out as quickly as possible, but one girl was burned to death, while _ the condition of nine others is so serious that they are not expected to recover.
