POLICEMAN IMPRISONED. LONDON, February 16. Walter Earl, a policeman, was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment at Bow street Police Court for assaulting a warehouseman at Covent Garden. The assault was unprovoked. BEQUEST FOB GENERAL BOOTH. LONDON, February 16. Miss Sarah Leigh, of Tunbridge Wells, bequeathed £3700 for the personal use of General Booth, of the Salvation Army. DAMAGING CYCLONE. SYDNEY, February 17. A cyclone, accompanied by rain, caused considerable damage at Gilgandra. CANCER IN RATS. COPENHAGEN, February 16. Professor Fibiger claims to have made experiments proving that cancer in rats is due to the rodents eating cockroaches in which a certain worm lays its eggs. DEATH OF THE POPE’S SISTER. The Pope, in giving audience to the Archbishop of Wellington, acknowledged the tokens of. sympathy in his recent bereavement, especially from Anglo-Saxon countries.
