K. flay, of Kawa, Auckland, arrived recently, having left tlio utranto at Toulon, and spent a few days in Raris on route. Reid, 1 .S.M.C., ot Balclutha, who is at present staying at 62, Camden road, xn.W., , has just passed the examination, and secured the diploma of the xxritish Optical Association. Mr Reid has just returned from a two-months’ tour of the United Kingdom. Me expects to leave for New Zealand in March., Mr and Mrs James Lamg, of Wellington, are staying with Mr Laing’s father, Mr Montague Laing, general manager of Messrs Sargood, Son, and Ewen, Ltd., at Kingston-on-Thames. They will remain in England for three months, and then go to the Continent before returning home. London papers' recently gave some prominence to the distinction gained by Miss Lily Pain in becoming the first Licentiate in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons, and it will interest New Zealanders to learn that this young lady studied under the direction of Mr. Cecil L. Donne, L.D.S., London, of Wellington (New Zealand),' who is demonstrator to the Royal National Dental Hospitals in London. The twelve students who went up for their final examination from this hospital all took their degree—a good record.
