FIRE AT TE AROHA

SEVERAL PREMISES BADLY GUTTED. The Secretary of the General Post Office yesterday received the following telegram from the postmaster at Te Arena: “A large fire took place in 'Whitaker street early this morning, originating' in a fruit shop occupied by Eichler. Premises occupied by Bank of Australasia and Lovegrove’a land agency were almost destroyed.' Herbert’s bicycle shop and ‘Te Aroha News’ office were badly damaged. “Eiohler’a place .was completely destroyed. Estimated loss over £2OOO. Insurances estimated at, £IOOO. Origin unknown.”
