A workman’s camp is now being arranged in connection with the carrying out of the water supply scheme, and great care is being taken to ensure the camp haring the best hygienic condi- , tions. A water supply will be laid on to provide for the domestic requirements of the campers, as well as to carry out a system or septic tank sewerage. The initial work has been started for the construction of a storage dam on the Cotter river. A service reservoir at Itedhill has been begun, and it will be followed by a pipe head reservoir at Mount Stromlo. Colonel Owen paid what was really his first visit to the upper watershed of the Cotter river, which is to be tho source of the supply for the future city. He was greatly impressed with the excellence of the catchment area in the upper part of the watershed and with, the extent of the river flow at the present season -of the year.
