WANGANUI DISTRICT.
Special to the "Times." WANGANUI. February I*. At the annual meeting of the Wanganui District Oddfellows, Manchester Unity, held at Feilding. the Provincial C. 8., in his report on the year’s transaotioua, showed that the position of the lodges was exceedingly favourable. Uhe worth of the district was JJ28.958, an increase of .£1169 for the year. He pointed out that with regard to the surplus snows by the lodges the actuary would consent to * the distribution of about onethird. The Loyal Wanganui Lodge was now in the position of having a large number of me label's as far as the side and benefit funds were concerned. A resolution was carried affirming the desirableness of altering the system of bookkeeping with a view to securing uniformity, simplicity, and economy of administration. , , t C.S. Bro. Slack gave a lengthy address in opposition to the proposed consolidation ot the sick funds of the whole of the lodges under the jurisdiction of the New Zealand branch. He pointed out that the progress made ! by the various districts was sufficient evidence that consolidation was not required in New Zealand. , A resolution that the lodges in this district were opposed to consolidation was carried unanimously. Loyal Ohakune hoc: go applied for permission to borrow jCI6o towards the erection of a lodge room, and it was resolved to recommend fho lodge to borrow apart from lodge funds. The next district meeting and the annual mooting was fixed for Wanganui. The election of officers resulted: Prov. G.M., Bro. J. W. Clevely (Bunnythorpe); ib.G.il., Bro. D. is. Thomson (Feilding).
