NOXIOUS WEEDS AND “REFORM.”
To the Editor “ N.Z. Times.” Sir, —One of the greatest dangers to tho rich country outside Taihapo is the Californian thistle. The Gioeral Government daring its term of office compelled both the large and small landowners to cut the tnistles growing on their properties. The Inspector of Noxious Weeds gave notice a short time ago to cut ail thistles. _ Now, while the small farmers are obeying the law, tne large squatters (mostly Reformers) are treating it with defiance. It is whispered that they have received inside information that the law will not be enforced in their case. People are anxiously waiting to sea whether they will get a “ square deal,” or whether tho Act is a dead letter. —I am, etc., CALIFORNIAN. Taihape, February 11th.
