WORK SUSPENDED. RECOGNITION OF HEROIC SACRIFICE. LONDON, February 13. Work is to be suspended in many places for five minutes at noon tomorrow as a mark of recognition of thr heroic sacrifice of the lives of Scott and his party. Mr H. G. Ponting, who was photographer to the western party, narrates that Captain Oates told him that if he (Oates) broke down on such a journey as a polar expedition the proper thing to do would be to deliberately sacrifice his life, so as not to be a burden on others.
