MoCJuarrio’s lather entered into a bond of £SO for his son’s appearance. On the day of the hearing the accused failed to appear, and McQuarrie, senior, was caded upon to show causa why lixs recognisance should not be estreated. The magistrate, before ordering the forfeiture of security, adjourned tho Hearing for a week, suggesting that tho defendant, on becoming acquainted through the newspapers with hi» father’s position, would turn up. File final hearing was sot down for today- . ■ . His Worship: As a business man, you cannot see why this should be carried out. McQuarrie, senior : 1 am to blame. It did not occur "to me that the boy would not turn up. His Worship : You never thought your son would let his father in for £SO? McQuarrie: Well, he knew very well that I could not afford to lose £6O. His Worship : We often have bigger bonds than that. I shall make an order. Mr McQuarrie; In tho event of hla tuniinjjkup what is my position .thenf His Worship: Ido not think I have any more to do with it. We have to, get it from you.
