A GENERAL STRIKE

ORDERED BY BELGIAN NATIONAL COUNCIL. BRUSSELS, February 13. The i\ational General Strike Council has summoned the workers to strike on the 14th inst. Last week the Belgian Chamber of Deputies, by 100 votes to 83, rejected the Universal Suffrage Bill. M. Vendervelde then intimated that the Socialists would order a general strike. The Socialists have been organising for a strike of every kind of labour, by which they hope to secure universal suffrage pure and simple, as against the present plural vote, which gives the upper classes a great advantage over the lower.
