HEAVY GALE IN ASHBURTON

Press Association. ASHBURTON, February 13. A furious old-time north-west gale sprang up about 10 o’clock this morning, and continued without signs of abatement in tho afternoon. It is the worst experienced here for some years, and it is feared that it will cause great loss all over tho countryside, where grain is generally in stock, or being cut or stocked, and therefore likely to he blown out., Orchardists in town and suburbs are suffering severely, and minor damage is reported to several glass verandahs in town.
