IRISH BLIGHT
ERADICATED IN AUSTRALIA. As far as experts cau judge, Irish blight (which made such severe ravages amongst crops iu Australia) has been practically eradicated (says an Australian paper). Not a single report has this season reached the Victorian Agricultural Department from the potatogrowing districts, which would indicate the existence of the disease in even tho most modified form. Some time ago some New Zealand potatoes were found, on arrival in Melbourne, to be affected by blight, and prompt measures were taken to prevent their distribution, Growers aro strongly advised by tho Victorian departmental officials not to relax their suppressional efforts, because there is still tho possibility of tho disease reappearing, for the weather now is favourable to the growth of tho disease, and attention to spraying now may save growers from further ruinous losses, as it might prove
Uiisaio concluut. that the cliscr.se is absolutely non-existent in the Commonwealth. Tho absence of the post this season is said to be partly duo to the dry weather experienced in October and tho beginning of November.
