STOEMY MEETING IN AUCKLAND TOWN HALL. Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 1-. There was a stormy meeting of unionists at tho Tracies Hall last evening, when between TtK> and bCO men gathered to hear throe of the Labour leaders give in detail the results of the recent conference in WetiUngTOn, out of which evolved the new organisation to be called tn-e United Federation of Labour. Mr Arthur liosser. secretary of a number of local unions, presided, and on the platform were Mr Edward Tregear (of the United Labour Party's executive), Mr W. E. Parry (vice-president of the New Zealand Federation of Labour), and Mr L. Henry (vice-president of the Hairdressers’ Federation). Mr Tregear ©poke for half an hour, detailing very fully the work done at the recent conference. Mr Tregear said he was just as much a believer and supporter of arbitration to-day as ever. He made an appeal for united action by the workers of the Dominion. He said that he intended to devote the rest of his life to the Labour cause. He was too old for political ambitions. "When the time cam© for questions the meeting became very disorderly. There were two distinct sections, *nd the word "scab" was hurled about freely. .Tho chairman threatened to leave the chair- but disorder continued intermittently until the meeting ended abruptly ; with cheers for the United Federation of Labour.
