OUTBREAKS OF FIRE
Press Association. WESTPORT, February 11. A four-roomed, unoccupied, uninsured bouse, near Arawaiti Bridge, on the outskirts of tho town, was burnt down last night. It was owned by Mr b. Anderson. An hour previously a man not identified, was seen in the house with a lighted candle. Early yesterday morning a cowshed in the yienuty yes mysteriously burnt, and prior to that heaps of light wood, which had been ignited. were found under a- cottage in the same localit^j [jENHB £ji j February 11. Scott and Co.’s bakery and confectionery factory, in Arthur street, was totally destroyed by fire last night. An explosion occurred in a portion of the building just as the hands left work. It was an old building and the fire epread rapidly. There was no hope of saving anything but a motor van and a few bags of flour. The insurances are:—On the building. AIOO m the standard office and in the Queensland; on tho staible, jCIOO in the Queensland office; on stock and plant, .£IOO in the Standard and JEGGO on the State office.
