GREATER J. D. WILLIAMS
CHARGE AGAINST J. D. WILLIAMS WITHDRAWN. (Received February 11, 8.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 11. When the charge was called against James Dixon Williams, managing director of the Greater J. D. Williams’ Amusements Company, of harbouring and assisting Frank Lloyd, who was arrested in Auckland on a charge of forging an order for the purchase of 160,000 of the company’s shares, counsel for prosecution announced that he and counsel for the defence had gone thoroughly into tho case, on account of the public matters involved, and had agreed that Williams, in taking the step he did, acted bona fide and in the interests of the shareholders, but thought that tho explanation put before him by counsel convinced him that the proper course to pursue in the interests of the shareholders was not to proceed further with the charge. Counsel for the defence stated that Williams assented to this course, realising that it was in the interests of the company and shareholders. He S was also of opinion that tho quarrel should cease between the parties as the exElanation given was satisfactory and onorably discharged. The charge thereupon was withdrawn and Williams discharged.
