WANGANUI NOTES
By “Eileen." February 7. Mrs W. H. Barnicoat, who has been staying with Dr and Mrs Wall for some weeks, left on Wednesday for Wellington. Mr and Mrs Deem returned home this week from a driving tour up north. Miss Cruickshank (Principal Girls' College) returned to Wanganui from the South this week. Rev. Mr and Mrs Dove have returned to the college this week. Miss Meuli returned on Thursday from Manaia and a trip up >the mountain. Mrs Watts, Christchurch, has been spending a week with friends in Wanganui. She returned home on Friday. • Mr and Mrs Lands, Australia, are at present in Wanganui. The D.H.S, bathe were taxed to their utmost on Wednesday evening, when the swimming carnival was continued. On Thursday some thousands of people journeyed to Castieclili to witness the surf and life-saving club, and the visiting swimmers were among the visitors. The day was a perfect one. The ladies swimming entertained the visitors at a dance in the Eire Brigade Hall on Thursday evening. There were about sixty couples present, and a jolly time was spent. The committee were Misses Duff, Perrett, McKinnon, McAllister. Messrs C- Ncwcombe and McDowell were the M.C/s.
