With a lap to go Maelstrom was still in front, with Betel Nut next. The field closed np in the back stretch, but Maelstrom held her advantage as they rounded the turn into the straight. In the run homo Betel Nut wore her down and won a fine race by a head. Dayspring was two lengths away, followed by Gianella, Princess Louise, Lodi and Little Tib. Time. 4min 45 4-ssec.
