A Berlin message says that Admiral Jagow, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, discussing the naval estimates, emphasised Germany’s good relations with the Powers, particularly with Britain. Admiral von Tirpitz, Secretary of the Admiralty, referring to Mr Winston Churchill’s speech in March, declared that the proportion of to sixteen between the British - and German fleets would bo acceptable for the next five years. The “ Evening Standard ” declares that the Anglo-German understanding is probably due to the Dominions’ practical patriotism.
