The annual swimming sports of the Star Boating Club were held on Saturday afternoon, and a large number of interested spectators watched the events from the club-house verandah. The diving was especially interesting, and some of the comic events most amusing, the sight of a fully dressed gentleman walking into the water giving one quite a thrill. Tea was served inside and the tables were prettily decorated with blue and .white agapanthus. cornflowers, and larkspur, thus showing the club's colours. Mrs Bayfield, wife of the captain, was responsible for the decoration. This looks like being the last swimming sports the club will hold, for the new wharf, which a hard-hearted Harbour Board Is erecting right in front of the boat-house, will effectually block the view, if it does not discourage the swimmers.
