The Incorporated Society of Meat Importers’ Smithfield market quotations tor the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one hundred carcases of mutton or lamb or twenty-five quarters ol beef of fair average quality. The quotations are not for selected lines, but tor parcels fairly representative of the hoik of the shipments now on the market. The prices which follow are on the average a farthing per lb more than the values ex ship, this difference representing an average cost in expense, handling, conveyance and selling the meat. Some are very good, while others are pinched and poor owing to the unfavourable season in certain parts- ■ Little or no business has been done in oats. B grade Gartens have changed hands at 2s, lees commission, on trucks. The new oats also show wide difference in quality. Early-sown Gartons aro good, but spring-sown generally are not so good. Algerians are fair. Some old oat sheaf chaff has sold at J!3 net on trucks. LIVE STOCK SALES AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS, Dalgety and Co., Ltd. At Wanganui there was a fair yarding, comprising 4100 sheep and 120 head cattle. The bulk of tho sheep yarded consisted of old ewes. Prices: Medium fat lambs 11s, 2-tooth wethers (small) 12s, 2-tooth ewes 14s Id, mixed 2-tooths 11s 4d, lambs 6s 6d to 6s lOd, small woolly lambs 5s sd, cull lambs Is lOd, four and five-year ewes 10s lOd to 12s 3d, f.m. ewes 7s 4d to 8s Id, aged rams 17s, old ewes 4s Id. At Waverley 1600 sheep and 100 head cattle came forward. Competition was keen.
